Believe it or not Indian government has been squandering Rs 8.5 lakhs per day on Ajmal Kasab, sole surviving 26/11 terrorist. By 26th November 2009, Indian government had spent a staggering Rs 31 crores during his one year stay at Arthur Road jail. Now that we have been feeding Kasab for over 30 months, our expenses must have piled up manifolds. Additionally the monorail route near the jail was redrawn at a cost of Rs 44 crore because of Kasab’s security. Adding all these, India’s total expense on Kasab might just have touched triple digits(in crores). This appears most hilarious in the face of the fact that loss to public property due to Mumbai attacks was estimated to be 41.72 crore. Loss to public exchequer in keeping Kasab alive has already overshadowed the actual loss due to the incidence itself.
Infamous Mumbai attacks (known worldwide as 26/11) killed at least 166 people, including 17 policemen and NSG commandos, and left 293 critically wounded. The mayhem created at CST, Hotel Taj, Trident, Nariman House and other strategic locations need no introduction. Kasab was the only terrorist who could be captured alive, nine others where gunned down. Kasab was accused of directly killing seven people, conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of the 166 people killed in the three-day terror siege, waging war against India, causing terror, and of conspiracy to murder two high-ranking police officers.
With the testimony of around 250 witnesses and strong forensic evidence including DNA samples and live CCTV footages, the case against Kasab was the strongest that Indian Judiciary ever had. One finds it hard to figure out for why his trial didn’t begin before 17th April. When it took nearly five months for the trails to begin, expectation of an early outcome was always unjustified. On 6th May 2010, the trial court sentenced him to death on four counts and to life sentence on five other counts. Bombay high court upheld the death sentence on 21 Feb 2011. Final verdict on his mercy petition to the Indian president is yet to come.
Quite in contrast to this, it took USA less than an hour to crack down on Abbottabad hideout of Osama-bin-laden and kill him. US army made no attempt to arrest Osama. Ofcourse, when evidences are so strong , there is not much room for arguments and trails
India can't defend its inefficient judiciary in the garb of ensuring the ‘fair’ trail. In fact, we are being unfair to all the martyrs and family members of 26/11 attacks by being reluctant nad lethargic to Kasab’s case. Court had live CCTV footage, DNA samples and hundreds of eye witnesses- what else does it need to hang a man who committed such a heinous crime??? Given the slow pace of things, Kasab is all set to celebrate his 3rd anniversary on Indian Soil. While he is alive, it would keep burning hole in government's pocket which is bent upon wasting the tax payers hard earned money.
Pakistan has achieved more what it had expected and would be most happy to see Kasab alive for years to come all the while corroding our economy. . India has been accusing Pakistan of inaction against the 26/11 master minds. But Its own action till now has been no better. Moreover, India has set a bad example and has emerged as a soft nation against terrorism.
Its high time now. Either hang Kasab or let him go.... Why should we bear his expenses?India has not learnt lessons from its past. Keeping such terrorist alive risks our national security and is a clear invitation to a catastrophe similar to Kandahar incident.
Its time we come out of our deep slumber…..
Its time we revolt against the corrupt political set-up…
Three judge-bench comprising injustice Digvijay Singh, P Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal awarded capital punishment to Mr Ramdev alias Baba Ramdev alias Yoga guru for causing a loss of Rs 1000 crores to the state exchequer. He was accused of donating over Rs 650 crore to poor and needy people and another 450 crores to establish a hospital. His ,this callous act, has led to 0.5232% decrease in GDP of Switzerland. He was also found guilty under Protection of Black Money act. Court had received over 500 letters from different MPs and MLAs who complained that Mr Ramdev threatened to rob them of their hard earned money. Mr Anna Hazare and Acharya Balkrishna, key aides of Mr Ramdev shall be granted bail after they furnish a bond of Rs 50,000 in cash and Rs 2 crores in kind each.
Mr. Ramdev faced a major set back, when in another case put before the same judges in afternoon session, he was slapped with yet another death sentence .He was charged with sedition for his alleged involvement in recent anti-corruption movement held at Ramlila Maidan which wrecked the entire government. Taking special cognizance of the the fact that Mr. Ramdev committed a cardinal sin by challenging the of law of the land (which no one has challenged since pre-independence era) by questioning the legitimacy of land acquisation act, the bench uninamously agreed that this case was ‘rarest of rare’ and hence deserved Capital Punishment.
It is for the first time that any person has been slapped with two death sentences. Now the dilemma before the government is to practically execute this judgement. If he is hanged, how can the second judgement be executed?
Meanwhile, a plea seeking clemency has been submitted to the Congress President Ms Sonia Andhi. Later in the evening many political parties sent out letters to S Andhi suggesting ways in which the judgement could be executed. Congress has advised to withdraw life support system of Mr Ramdev so that he dies many times before death. Congress has also demanded to grant bail toAcharya Balkrishna without any bond as he belongs to schedule Tribe. BJP ,taking more humanitarian approach, has asked the court to put a stay order on the execution till the 2014 general elections. RSS meanwhile opined that Ral Thakcrey be hanged instead. Shiromani Akali Dal has urged the PM to intervene in Anna Hazare’s case and award death penalty to him as well.
Sources close to S Andhi Say that S Andhi has agreed upon withdrawing the life support system and keep Ramdev without food so that Mr Ramdev starves to death. In a detailed order, expected by tomorrow, S Andhi would direct government to appoint CBI and RAW to ensure that Mr. Ramdev doesn’t eat anything for the next fortnight.
In a similar development,Rahul Andhi has launched a indefinite hunger strike in Bhatta, Parsaul villages demanding the fast execution of Mr. Randev and Hazare. Government has also announced gallantry award to the police men who averted a huge catastrophe at Ramlila Maidan and hence saved government thousand of lives.
The entire incident has left the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ‘dumb’ founded.
