As Bengal tiger turns 39 today, he may not get the same lime light and media glare that his successor M S Dhoni got yesterday. But we can't deny the fact that Ganguly still has more fan-following than any one in this cricketing arena. This birthday could as well be the beginning of a new innings for him. For, it is today that he makes an entry into cricket administration as part of the Indian cricket board's technical committee headed by Sunil Gavaskar, who celebrates a landmark 60th birthday on Friday.
This is Ganguly's first birthday after retiring from international cricket. He has still not put a full stop on his first-class career and could play the East Zone matches for Bengal. He last played professional cricket in IPL 4 , representing Pune Warriors. He really played some scintillating innings and proved he still had some cricket left in him.It is not for no reason that he was once called the god of off-side by the batting legend Sachin himself. The elegance and authority that he showed on and off the field will always be missed by all the Indian fans. Though Dhoni may be credited for World Cup Victory, but it was this man who made us believe
that we could win the cup by sailing us to the finals of WC-2003. Ganguly has been mentor to all the big names in the Indian Cricket today. Be it Yuvraj, Sehwag,Gambhir or Harbhajan. It was Ganguly, who gave them chance and supported them when selectors felt otherwise.Lets thank him for immense contribution to the Indian Cricket and wish him all the best for his new innings.
Happy Bithday dada!!!!Wishing you a successful year ahead.
Hope you Captain the administrative team equally well.
